Annual report prepared by Smart City Lab of Moscow’s IT Department. According to the results of 2019, the leaders in implementing smart practices to the urban life are Singapore and Seoul, as were in 2018. Dubai occupied the third place, replacing London, where the number of smart city projects declined sharply.
As in 2018, the most popular area for implementing technologies is ecology, but most of the projects in this sphere are still being piloted: switching to renewable sources of energy, reducing emissions as well as air and water purification projects require large investments of time and resources.
Despite the fact that the number of mobility projects reduced in 2019, it is expected that in 2020 this number will increase, because driverless cars are entering a new stage: more and more companies are testing their technologies in the streets of cities. In the 4th quarter of 2018 there was a peak in the number of such projects.
