Data Insight presents the ‘Last Mile in E-commerce’ study. The main conclusions of the study are as follows:
In the first quarter of 2021 290 million packages were delivered in the e-commerce market. The share of stores’ own delivery services increased by 7 pp. - 71% compared to 64% in Q1 of 2020. The growth is primarily driven by Ozon and Wilberries marketplaces.
In terms of the share of orders and sales in 2020, the leaders are Moscow and the Moscow Oblast - in total, 33% of all Russian orders and purchases were made in this region. In 69 regions out of 85 the average receipt amount in 2020 was lower than in 2019.
The last mile processes are getting more complicated. Courier services are forced to undertake new tasks and engage in additional activities.
In 2020 the demand for express delivery has grown. This led to the emergence and rapid development of new delivery models - delivery within a limited radius through a network of dark stores and delivery with a click.
