MTS Bank studied how the online spending of Russians changed in Q2 of 2021 in comparison to the same period last year.

Based on the analysis of the company’s own data, analysts identified top 5 categories in which customers actively pay online: travel agencies, delivery of grocery from supermarkets, pharmacies, dating services and furniture ordering.

Purchases of food and essential goods, travel packages, medicines and furniture, which a few years ago were associated mostly with offline purchasing, today are becoming more available online. At the beginning the increase in online turnover was due to the lack of offline alternatives during the lockdown period in the second quarter of 2020, and then due to the emergence of new convenient services.
