According to a study conducted by NAFI analytical center, two-thirds of smartphone owners (66%) in Russia use various authentication methods to unlock their smartphones in order to protect their data. Most often people in Russia use a fingerprint (38%), a password or code (32%), and face recognition (10%) to unlock the smartphone.

Authentication for unlocking is more often used by owners of iOS devices (88% vs. 62% of owners of Android devices).

Users of iOS and Android smartphones differ in their preferred authentication methods - for instance, iOS smartphone users are 8 times more likely to use face recognition to unlock the device due to the lack of a fingerprint scanner in most iOS smartphones.
