The Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Joint Supercomputer Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences published the 37th version of the list of 50 most powerful supercomputers of the CIS countries. The leader is Yandex’s Chervonenkis supercomputer, it delivers 21.5 PFlop/s. The Galushkin (16 PFlop/s) and Lyapunov (12.8 PFlop/s) systems were ranked second and third.

 
 Sber’s Christofari and Christofari Neo supercomputers are also among the top five. The top 10 also includes the systems of Lomonosov Moscow State University, MTS, Rosgidromet, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and HSE.

Yandex Supercomputers Top Ranking of CIS Computer Systems

Lomonosov Moscow State University was ranked 150th in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, which is the best result among Russian universities. The top 1000 ranking includes 10 Russian universities, including Saint Petersburg State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Higher School of Economics, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Skoltech, MEPhI and others.

 
 In total, 2,500 higher educational institutions were included in the ranking. Harvard and Stanford universities topped the ranking. The authors weighted the international cooperation of universities, the number of publications in scientific journals and other aspects.

ShanghaiRanking Consultancy has published the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Moscow State University became the best Russian one in <a href="http://www.shanghairanking.com/rankings/gras/2022/RS0102" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">physics</a>, it occupies 76-100th position in the world ranking. It is followed by Novosibirsk State University (101-150th position), MIPT (151-200th position), MEPhI (151-200th position) and others.

 
 The HSE University is named the best one in <a href="http://www.shanghairanking.com/rankings/gras/2022/RS0101" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">mathematics</a> and is ranked 51-75th. It is followed by the RUDN University, 101-150th position), Saint Petersburg State University (101-150th position) and Moscow State University (301-400th position).  The Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022 includes over 1,800 universities out of 5,000 across 96 countries and regions. The universities were ranked in 54 subjects. ShanghaiRanking Consultancy: Moscow State University and HSE Became the Best Russian Universities in Physics and Mathematics

The Laboratory for the Development of Medical Neural Interfaces and AI for Clinical Applications has been opened at the Federal Center for Brain Research and Neurotechnology of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency. Researchers of the laboratory will develop several areas, in particular, new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy, methods of passive speech mapping (helps to expand the possibilities of neurosurgical operations), and will also develop minimally invasive speech prosthesis systems (creating speech prostheses).

 
 Experts expect that the work in the new laboratory will be followed by clinical testing, and in the future the developed products and solutions will be certified, patented, and commercialized. Aleksey Ossadtchi, director of the HSE Center for Bioelectric Interfaces, heads the laboratory. Funding for the laboratory under the Priority 2030 program is provided for an eight-year period.

Laboratory for the Development of Medical Neural Interfaces and AI for Clinical Applications Opened in Moscow

<a href="https://ict.moscow/static/ae7c8db6-99cb-5806-b687-6f3cf251df1a.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">According</a> to experts from HSE, in 2021 the total import of ICT goods, services and software in Russia reached 2.62 trillion rubles. This amount represents about 70% of the gross value added in the ICT sector. In 2020, this percentage was 67%, and in 2019 it was 64%.

 
 Computer services and software are imported mainly from Western countries – in 2020, 68% of costs were accounted for by foreign solutions. Asian countries account for almost 85% of imports of ICT products, including 65% accounted for by China.

 
 The authors of the report believe that there will be a decrease in spending on digital technologies in 2022. The reduction of the budgets of companies for ICT goods and services will affect the economy and the social sector. According to expert estimates, these sectors generated a significant part of the demand.
