The architecture of the operator level solution doesn’t use data transmission over public internet, critical zones (sensors) are reserved by the coverage of 2-3 base stations. IoT network has the following characterisitcs: duration of the autonomous work of sensors is up to 10 years, high penetration capability of sensors, the radius of coverage for the base station is up to 3 km in a city, open energy-efficient network protocol regardless of the equipment manufacturer type, additional data encryption on the basis of the platform of applications.

During the On Software Import Substitution in Industries strategic session Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that there exist domestic analogues of 80% of foreign software. There are one or two analogues for one third of these 80%. “And, most importantly, more than half of the solutions available on the Russian market are of medium or higher maturity level. There is no need to create them from scratch, we just need to enhance and use them,” Mishustin stated.

 
 The government has discovered almost 400 types of corporate software, the imports of which were extremely important for business. Annual spending of companies on licenses, implementation and support of such software is estimated at 200 billion rubles (2.9 billion dollars).

 
 Furthermore, Mikhail Mishustin said, the list of critical infrastructure objects will be expanded. This is necessary for accelerating the switch to Russian software. “We plan to include all key types of systems and applications into the range of critical infrastructure objects. The government will set the deadline for switching to Russian software for each item,” prime minister added.

 
 The session included the discussion of work results of 15 industrial competence centers in mechanical engineering, construction, utilities, pharmaceuticals industry and other areas. The representatives of ministries, state corporations, universities and associations, as well as of Kaspersky Lab, Bellsoft, ER-Telecom, VK, Amethyst Capital and other companies took part in the event.

Mikhail Mishustin: Russian Analogs Exist for 80% of Foreign Software

According to the forecasts of the Data Center Industry Participants Association, the data center market in the Moscow region is expected to grow by 5-10% per year in terms of the number of racks and by 10-15% in terms of revenue over the next five years. Such growth rates are expected under moderately negative scenarios.

 
 According to the estimates of analysts, currently the number of racks in the market is 33,000-35,000, and 75-80% of the Moscow market is formed by 11-12 players. These players are RTK-TsOD/Dataline, DataPro, IXcellerate, Selectel, MTS, Linxdatacenter/ER-Telecom, 3Data and others.

 
 It was previously planned that 10,000 racks would be put into operation in Moscow in 2022. However, according to analysts, the supply of new racks this year will be 30-35% less than the forecasted quantity.

 
 Analysts say that the strengthening of the role of the state as a customer in the data center market and the change in the structure of consumption of data center services will be among the trends for the next 5-10 years. According to experts, “in the current data center occupancy structure, the distribution of Colo/aaS is 70-80%/20-30% for hybrid providers, but in the forecast horizon the ratio may change to 40-50%/50-60%.”

Data Center Market is Expected To Grow by 10-15% Per Year in the Moscow Region

According to the report prepared by TMT Consulting, in 2021 the number of access points installed by telecom operators (networks of private companies and city free access points) increased by 3.7% to 185.7 thousand, and the revenue of operators increased by 2.8 % and reached $64.5 million (5.3 billion rubles).

 
 The largest players were MaximaTelecom (36% of revenue and 9% of all access points), Rostelecom (25% of revenue and 30% of access points), ER-Telecom (13% and 12% respectively) and Beeline ( 8% and 17%).

 
 According to analysts, the main customers of public Wi-Fi networks among small and medium-sized businesses are hotels and restaurants, retail trade companies and medical centers. Among large businesses, the main customers are retail companies, banks and filling stations.

 
 In 2022, operators plan to develop and strengthen their presence in the regions. For example, MaximaTelecom plans to expand Wi-Fi networks while implementing existing and new infrastructure projects aimed at digitalizing public transport and developing city services (these plans also include the development in Moscow). Rostelecom plans to “focus on cloud solutions that fit into the existing Wi-Fi infrastructure of customers”. MegaFon’s specialists say that they will focus on the development of HoReCa segments (restaurants, catering, hotels) and retail.

 
 Beeline intends to develop public Wi-Fi services, including the services in the regions: “The tourism industry is expanding public areas in anticipation of a large influx of users; these are not only the southern regions, but also recreation centers and resort houses throughout the country”. However, the company’s experts acknowledge that the figures in 2022 can be not as optimistic as experts expected at the beginning of the year.

TMT Consulting: Number of Public Wi-Fi Access Points in Russia Increases by 3.7% in 2021

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Linxdatacenter, and ER-Telecom will build a data center for 4,000 racks in Moscow as part of the expansion of Linxdatacenter and the development of its cloud service in Russia.

 
 The commissioning of the data center is scheduled for early 2024. In addition, it is planned to gradually increase the energy capacity of the facility up to 50 MW. The volume of investments in the project will be about $200 million.

 
 The data center is to become the largest of the company's data centers and its second facility in Moscow. Another Linxdatacenter data center is located in St. Petersburg.

 
 In April 2021, RDIF and ER-Telecom <a href="https://rdif.ru/fullNews/6717/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">acquired</a> 100% of Linxdatacenter's subsidiary Svyaz VSD. Then it was reported that the main task of the joint cloud platform would be to provide the largest Russian and international companies with the necessary virtual infrastructure. As a result of the deal, ER-Telecom will be able to enter the commercial cloud data center market and expand the range of services for B2B clients.

RDIF, Linxdatacenter and ER-Telecom to Build a Data Center with 4,000 Racks in Moscow

Rostec and ER-Telecom acquired control over the Internet provider Akado. The package (75% minus one share) was transferred to the M-Kom joint venture. The parties do not disclose the amount of the transaction, but, <a href="https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/5156897" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">according</a> to Kommersant, it could range from $53.6 million to $67.1 million (3-4 billion rubles).

 
 The partners plan to create a platform for the development of digital technologies, including 5G wireless communications, the Internet of things, smart city systems, video analytics, and data centers. The new owners expect that the services will be in demand by private organizations and the public sector.

Then it was expected that ER-Telecom will acquire 56% of the shares. It was also assumed that in case of successful closing of the transaction, ER-Telecom will receive 300 thousand new subscribers and existing orders from the operator.
