Rutube includes a web-based version and apps for IOS and Android. The content base of Rutube consists of users’ videos, TV channels video materials, compilations of sports competitions episodes and music videos. To detect copyright violations a system called Licenzero was created, it compares user’s downloads with the licensed videos from the content base.

Since 2007 Rutube allows player embedding and creation of sections on the third party websites via API. For placing legal content there is a widget, which has navigation on editions, seasons and episodes of tv-programs and series. Within its partnership program Rutube shares the revenues from commercials with the owners of platforms that use the player.
