This year Sberbank and Rosselkhozbank intend to re-equip part of the ATM fleet, pilot projects will be held at VTB, Dom.RF and OTP-Bank. New self-service devices will allow you to withdraw money and pay for services without a card, as well as accept a client for service and issue a loan. According to Rostelecom (the operator of the Unified Biometric System), each bank will have to ensure security independently.

The service is scheduled for a large-scale launch in 2021-2022. VTB reported that a limited number of self-service devices will be equipped with biometric technologies during the pilot. By the end of this year, it is planned to discuss an increase in the share of such ATMs.

Sberbank began testing face recognition at ATMs in 2020. Rosselkhozbank previously carried out a pilot project on the use of biometrics in ATMs for additional identification or verification of cardholders.
