AFK Sistema plans to invest in Sputnix and launch up to 100 small space vehicles for various purposes within two years.
Alexey Katkov, the managing partner at AFK Sistema, notes that it costs around $135,700 (10 million rubles) to launch a spacecraft into orbit, and the market cost of producing such a satellite is nearly the same. The total cost of creating 100 space vehicles can reach $27,180 (2 billion rubles).
Currently, Sputnix operates three of its own vehicles in orbit, in 2022 the company plans to increase the number of space vehicles to 22. Based on its own satellites, the company intends to develop a satellite Internet of Things service with the ability to send SMS from stationary or mobile objects.
Alexey Katkov notes that the company will also create a marketplace where it will provide the results of remote sensing of the Earth. The platform will be targeted at government customers and representatives of the private sector.
