Amazon Web Services (AWS, the world's largest cloud service provider) has reached an agreement with Mail.ru Group on partnership to enter the Russian market. Companies will be able to offer customers unified access to their cloud services and solutions in the multi-cloud format.
This cooperation will allow Amazon to comply with Russian legislation on the storage of personal data in Russia. As the representative told the newspaper "Kommersant" Mail.ru in addition, the partnership with MCS will help AWS global customers to enter the Russian market without hindrance, while complying with all local legal requirements, and MCS Russian customers will be able to quickly scale in foreign markets.
According to Stanislav Mirin, an analyst at iKS-Consulting, AWS's entry into Russia will boost competition and the level of service delivery in the Russian market. According to him, direct sales of services from the world's leading cloud providers in Russia make up no more than 8% of the market.
