According to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, “Mobile identifier” for electronic passport has been created and is currently undergoing certification.

According to him, the application was created and it remained to solve the issue about certification and encryption of keys of electronic signatures.

The Ministry of Communications suggested conducting an experiment from July 1, 2020 until the end of 2021 for citizens to receive public, municipal and other services using the specialized mobile app “Mobile identifier” instead of the passport. By August 31, the Ministry suggested creating the mobile application and infrastructure for its work. It will be possible to use the app starting from December 1, 2020.

Citizens will not only be allowed to provide a QR code generated in the application instead of a passport, but also to apply a smartphone to a reader using NFC technology.
