Cian, a professional real estate sales and rental service, has submitted an application to be included in the register of operators of financial platforms. The company intends to launch a niche mortgage marketplace, which is not yet available on the Russian market.

Cian’s plans to be included in the register of marketplaces were mentioned in the IPO prospectus in the fall of 2021. According to the document, being included in the register of the Central Bank will help develop the CIAN.Mortgage service, which is called the “mortgage marketplace” in the prospectus.

The Bank of Russia explained that “there are several applications for inclusion in the register under consideration.” The regulator did not mention the names of the companies. Currently, the register of financial platform operators includes five companies: VTB Registrar, Infinitum, Finuslugi, Sravni.ru, and Open Financial Marketplace. The Central Bank is also considering the application from Open Digital Solutions. According to experts, mortgage infrastructure projects remain in demand.
