According to the Kommersant, the Russian government is discussing the development of the “National video surveillance platform” information system (thereinafter - GIS). The system will become a unified framework for analyzing video from all city cameras in the country. Within the GIS model, cameras with computing modules will be used, they will identify and record incidents and only then send the video stream to the data center.

It may take 5 years to complete the project, and National Technologies, the joint venture of Rostec and Rostelecom, may become the contractor. The units of Rostec will develop the hardware part, and Rostelecom will develop the software. GIS is going to become an integral part of the “Safe City” hardware-software complex.
