According to the forecasts of the Data Center Industry Participants Association, the data center market in the Moscow region is expected to grow by 5-10% per year in terms of the number of racks and by 10-15% in terms of revenue over the next five years. Such growth rates are expected under moderately negative scenarios.

According to the estimates of analysts, currently the number of racks in the market is 33,000-35,000, and 75-80% of the Moscow market is formed by 11-12 players. These players are RTK-TsOD/Dataline, DataPro, IXcellerate, Selectel, MTS, Linxdatacenter/ER-Telecom, 3Data and others.

It was previously planned that 10,000 racks would be put into operation in Moscow in 2022. However, according to analysts, the supply of new racks this year will be 30-35% less than the forecasted quantity.

Analysts say that the strengthening of the role of the state as a customer in the data center market and the change in the structure of consumption of data center services will be among the trends for the next 5-10 years. According to experts, “in the current data center occupancy structure, the distribution of Colo/aaS is 70-80%/20-30% for hybrid providers, but in the forecast horizon the ratio may change to 40-50%/50-60%.”
