MCST — the company producing Elbrus processors — plans to transfer production from Taiwan to Zelenograd’s Mikron.

Previously, Elbrus processors were produced at Taiwan’s TSMC. TSMC factories produced processors using processes ranging from 90 nm to 5 nm. However, TSMC has ceased cooperation with Russian companies since the end of February.

According to the statement on the MCST website, the company’s Elbrus line of processors includes microcircuits produced using technologies ranging from 130 nm, and the most advanced processor of the company is produced using the 16 nm technology. In April, Konstantin Trushkin, Deputy General Director of Marketing at MCST, said that it was possible to produce 90 nm processors at the facilities of Mikron. He also clarified that MCST was considering two options: to transfer the assembly of processors to Mikron or to create a separate Elbrus company, which would not be related to MCST. Now the company is considering a transfer to the facilities in Russia.

It may take at least a year and several billion rubles to transfer production to Mikron.
