The Government of the Russian Federation approved the program of the regulatory sandbox (experimental legal regime) for the operation of unmanned vehicles. 20 days after the publication of the relevant decree, autonomous vehicles can be used as a taxi.

Currently, the autonomous vehicles will operate in the Yasenevo district in Moscow and on the Sirius federal territory (with a test driver in the car), and also on the territories of Innopolis and Skolkovo (without a test driver). Today only Yandex is taking part in the experiment, users will be able to call an autonomous taxi using the Yandex Go app.

The program has been developed for a period of three years. According to its results, the regulation will be finalized by 2025. This will make it possible to scale autonomous taxi services to other territories and integrate them into the urban infrastructure.
