Kaspersky Lab: Number of DDoS Attacks in March Increases by 50% Compared to February

According to Kaspersky Lab, in March 2022, the number of DDoS attacks was 1.5 times more than in February and 8 times more than during the same period in 2021. The duration of attacks also increased in the last two months. In February-March last year an average attack did not last longer than 12 minutes, but this year the average duration of attacks was 29.5 hours.

Financial sector institutions were most frequently attacked: the percentage of attacks on such organizations in the total amount of attacks doubled over the year and reached 35%. Over the past month, 33% of attacks targeted government agencies, another 9% targeted educational institutions, and 3% of attacks targeted media websites. However, in February 2022 the percentage of DDoS attacks on the media was ten times higher - 32%.

Experts of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media say that recently the number of DDoS attacks on the public sector has increased tenfold compared to last year, but the situation with blocking attacks has significantly stabilized over the past month.
