In December, Sibur and MegaFon signed an agreement on the creation in Russia of a unified private wireless network of the LTE standard (Private LTE, PLTE).
It is assumed that by the end of 2022, the network should cover six production sites, and by 2024, provide wireless communications for all Sibur enterprises. MegaFon will have to provide unified coverage using the 1.8 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands.
As Sibur explained to ICT.Moscow, the PLTE network is being designed taking into account the transition to 5G in the near future, 5G-Ready equipment is used for this.
The key objective of the new PLTE is "to provide access to data and ensure the fastest and most secure exchange of information." The network infrastructure, including secure individual SIM cards, will allow the corporate network to be used to ensure information security.
Earlier it was reported that Sibur and MTS agreed to develop a zone of a dedicated 5G industrial network on the territory of the Sibur-Khimprom plant. However, the results of the pilot project have not yet been summed up.
“We are ready to test new technologies with any operators or equipment manufacturers, and the contractor for putting solutions into operation is determined through open competitive procedures,” Igor Tyutrin, the Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations at Sibur Digital, told ICT.Moscow.
