Specialists of the National University of Science and Technology MISiS demonstrated the operation of the Russian quantum network node developed together with scientists from the Quantum Communications Centre of NTI.
The complex consists of two blocks connected by a fiber-optic communication line. The so-called two-pass system, in which the receiver generates a sequence of laser impulses and sends them to the transmitter, is implemented in the complex. The result is a distributed random number generator.
According to the developers, the modularity of the hardware and software complex makes it possible to modify optical circuits, vary electronic components, study promising protocols, and develop interfaces for integrating quantum communications into other information systems.
In the future, this quantum network node will become the basis for creating demonstration quantum computers for solving educational and scientific problems. The node will also be used for prototyping quantum internet devices.
