More than Half of Russian Businessmen Faced Cyber Threats in May

More than half of Russian businessmen (53%) faced information security problems in May according to the research by the NAFI analytical center and Cyberprotect company. The study was carried out among 500 representatives of micro, small and medium-sized businesses in all federal districts of Russia.

Two-thirds of businessmen (68%) believe the threat of a hacker attack on their companies is unlikely or impossible. And 21% admit that an attack on the company is possible. The companies that face cyber threats are more often the ones that are working in the field of digital technologies, information and communications (52%), and the businesses that have been on the market for more than 10 years (17%).

Most often, businessmen face data loss as a result of breakdowns, device failures or human errors (19%). A little less often, businesses have to deal with Internet fraud (18%) and infection of employees’ work computers with viruses, sometimes with the subsequent extortion of money (14%).

Businessmen also faced the risks of unauthorized access to corporate information (10%), attacks on the company’s website (10%), hacking of employees’ mailboxes (9%), and customer personal data theft (6%).
