The peak of hacker activity occurred in the first quarter of 2021. Thus, the number of DDoS attacks on banks increased 3.5 times. In online trading, such incidents happened 20% more often. Attacks on state-owned companies increased by 17%. At the same time, the number of attacks on data centers and the gaming segment decreased by 25% and 35%, respectively.

The value of the most powerful attack recorded was 462 Gbps. This is a third more than the peak of the three quarters of 2020. The longest attack lasted almost 4.5 days. Last year this figure was about 3 days.

Earlier, large DDoS attacks were reported by Yandex and, later, by VTB. The IT company later clarified that the attack was carried out using the Mēris botnet.
