Moscow was ranked second among European cities in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2021 presented by StartupBlink. London was ranked first, and the third city in the ranking is Paris. A year earlier, the Russian capital was in third place.

In the global ranking, Moscow is among the top 10 megacities and was ranked ninth, just like in last year’s ranking. San Francisco, New York and Beijing are the top three cities in the ranking.

The annual ranking is made using a database that contains more than 1 thousand cities, 70 thousand startups, 2 thousand coworking spaces and 800 accelerators around the world. Analysts take into account the number and quality of innovative companies, innovative infrastructure facilities and the volume of investments.
