Rosstat (Federal State Statistics Service) will calculate the changes in consumer prices in stores using artificial intelligence.

The project on collecting data from cash register receipts will be launched this year. Artificial intelligence will allow to collect and process large amounts of data and calculate consumer price statistics more accurately. Artificial intelligence will also help to solve the existing problems, for example, the system will help recognize item names more accurately.

The system will be implemented in three stages. Currently, at the first stage, project concept is being developed. Then the software will be developed and implemented. The system will start functioning by the end of 2021.
