Russia in Top 10 Countries for Internet Affordability

According to Surfshark, Russia has ranked 6th in terms of Internet affordability and is ahead of France, Lithuania, Denmark and Australia. The top three are Israel, Armenia and Germany. Surfshark calculated the ratio of the tariffs for fixed and mobile broadband Internet to the average hourly wage in the country.

The ranking is part of the Digital Quality of Life Index. According to the index, Russia:

  • moved 10 positions up in internet quality - from 54th place in 2021 to 44th place in 2022;
  • moved down from 45th to 46th position in the electronic infrastructure category
  • was ranked 27th in terms of cybersecurity vs. 28th in 2021 (the electronic security category);
  • remained 38th in terms of online services development, moved 4 positions down in terms of AI readiness to 37th place (electronic government category).

Russia ranks 42th in the global ranking that includes 117 countries, which is 10 positions higher than in 2021.
