On July 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law “On digital financial assets”. The document, the draft of which was adopted by the State Duma in the first reading in 2018, introduces the concept of “digital financial assets” and “digital currencies”, regulates cryptocurrencies and allows cryptocurrency transactions, but prohibits to use it as a means of payment in Russia.
