CEO of Ozon Alexander Shulgin told the Financial Times that the company plans to obtain a banking license for the development of fintech services.

According to him, the information that Ozon has will allow making decisions on the amount of the loan to the seller offering his goods on the marketplace platform. At the same time, Shulgin did not specify how it is technically planned to organize Ozon's entry into the banking market.

In February, Ozon established a microfinance company MCC Ozon Credit LLC. The company also has a service called Ozon.Invest, which offers lending opportunities to marketplace sellers.

Earlier, Ozon's competitor, Wildberries, acquired the bank to develop existing and launch new services for buyers and entrepreneurs.
