Russian Post, the national postal operator, has moved its tech divisions into a separate IT company Pochta Service that will focus on computer equipment and digital infrastructure. The staff of the new structure will be 3.6 thousand people. It is expected that the established company will reduce the cost of supporting the IT infrastructure of Russian Post by 15-20%.
In the future, state-run operator plans to enter the external service market and compete with other market incumbents, the deputy CEO of Russian Post’s IT division stated.
This is not the first time Russian Post has transferred certain functions to a separate company. In 2016, the enterprise created a subsidiary company for the development of software Pochtatech.
