It is planned to make the train operation on the Moscow Central Circle autonomous by 2024. Those plans were announced by Oleg Belozerov, CEO of Russian Railways (RZD), at a briefing. According to him, by that time all Lastochka trains of MCC will become autonomous.
RZD plans to get the first autonomous train by the end of this year and certify it in 2022. The introduction of autonomous trains will help reduce the minimal waiting interval from 4 minutes to 3 minutes.
RZD also plans to develop 6 autonomous railway operation standards by the end of this year.
