ShanghaiRanking Consultancy has published the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Moscow State University became the best Russian one in physics, it occupies 76-100th position in the world ranking. It is followed by Novosibirsk State University (101-150th position), MIPT (151-200th position), MEPhI (151-200th position) and others.

The HSE University is named the best one in mathematics and is ranked 51-75th. It is followed by the RUDN University, 101-150th position), Saint Petersburg State University (101-150th position) and Moscow State University (301-400th position). ITMO was included in the global ranking in computer science on position 104-500.

The Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022 includes over 1,800 universities out of 5,000 across 96 countries and regions. The universities were ranked in 54 subjects. The authors used a wide range of indicators, including the results and quality of research, international cooperation between universities and other indicators.
