Lomonosov Moscow State University was ranked 150th in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, which is the best result among Russian universities. The top 1000 ranking includes 10 Russian universities, including Saint Petersburg State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Higher School of Economics, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Skoltech, MEPhI and others.

In total, 2,500 higher educational institutions were included in the ranking. Harvard and Stanford universities topped the ranking. The authors weighted the international cooperation of universities, the number of publications in scientific journals and other aspects.

Earlier it was reported that Moscow State University, Novosibirsk State University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology were ranked the highest among Russian universities in physics by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. Higher School of Economics, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and Saint Petersburg State University were the best in mathematics among Russian universities. ITMO was the only Russian university included in the global ranking in the field of computer science.
