Sitronics Group (part of AFK Sistema), with the participation of Sputnix, plans to launch a constellation of 157 satellites by 2025. The satellites will perform tasks in Earth remote sensing (ERS), automatic identification systems (AIS; vessel tracking), the Internet of things (IoT) and fire monitoring.
Sitronics also plans to interact with MTS (part of AFK Sistema). Specialists of MTS say that the infrastructure of the constellation will consist of satellite ground stations and data centers connected by high-speed communication channels. Sitronics will provide hardware and software and a service to corporate and state customers.
Sputnix produces CubeSat satellites (small and ultra-small satellites, including private and amateur satellites) at the Skolkovo Technopark, but plans to start assembling its products at the Vorobyovy Gory Innovation Science and Technology Center of Moscow State University.
At the end of August 2021, Sitronics acquired 71.06% of Sputnix, which produces satellite systems and components for small spacecraft.
In the Earth remote sensing segment, Sitronics will be rivals with Rosсosmos, which will launch 162 spacecraft into orbit as part of the Sfera (Sphere) project.
