The Telegram messenger has outpaced WhatsApp in terms of mobile traffic growth in 50 regions of Russia, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, MegaFon reports.
Over the year, the volume of Telegram's mobile Internet traffic has more than doubled. At the same time, the total traffic volume in all messengers grew by 87%. The first place continues to be held by WhatsApp with a share of 48%, which decreased by almost a quarter over the year. Telegram, on the other hand, grew by 26%, accounting for 44% of traffic.
According to the forecast of the operator's specialists, if the dynamics of this year continues, already at the beginning of the next Telegram may lead the popularity rating of instant messengers in Russia.
Earlier it was reported that Telegram entered the top 10 applications in the world in terms of the number of downloads.
