Testing of self-driving trains “Lastochka” began in Moscow

Testing of the self-driving Lastochka trains began in Moscow. During the testing, various scenarios and situations are worked out, including the emergence of obstacles on the tracks. The tests are conducted under the control of the drivers, the technology is tested at the Cherkizovo station.

It is planned to install special equipment in trains and facilities of station infrastructure. According to the CEO of Russian Railways, the unmanned trains can be launched at the MCC in 2021, and in the future unmanned trains will be introduced on other railway lines with high passenger traffic.

In July, it was announced that Russian Railways and the Ministry of Transport were planning to test unmanned trains at a virtual testing ground.
