Extra $166.6 million (14 billion rubles) can be allocated as grants to IT companies in 2022. Previously, it was planned to allocate $89.2 million (7.5 billion rubles) for these purposes. Taking into account the increase in funding, the total amount of grant aid this year can increase to $256.3 million (21.5 billion rubles).

Extra funds will be distributed among three foundations:

  • The Russian Foundation for Information Technology Development — $127.6 million (10.8 billion rubles);
  • The Skolkovo Foundation — $14.1 million (1.2 billion rubles);
  • The Bortnik Foundation (The Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises) — $23.6 million (2 billion rubles).

Priority in distributing grants will be given to projects that aim to replace foreign services. These are engineering and industrial software projects, fintech services, EdTech, etc.

The changes can also affect the procedures for the competitive selection of grant recipients. According to the new scheme, public pitch of the project (delivering a presentation to seek investors) takes place, and then a package of documents is submitted by the winner.
