Yandex has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. According to the overall score, the company is "in the top 5% of the index in the digital services and media industry, and in the top 1% in the social direction.

The rating compilers also rated Yandex's achievements in energy management and data center efficiency improvement higher than 94% of companies in the digital services and media industry. Yandex's corporate governance was also highly praised, including for its security system, user data protection, and development of open-source projects.

Previously, Yandex identified 12 priority areas for itself, including education, information security, quality of services, reducing the carbon footprint and an accessible environment.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index annually includes 10% of companies from the S&P Global BMI. They are assessed according to ESG principles. In particular, ecology, social policy and corporate governance. In 2021, S&P Global experts evaluated over 1,800 candidates.

In November, Forbes ranked Yandex among the top employers of 2021. The rating took into account such indicators as the social package, average wages and working conditions.
