The Yandex.Taxi group of companies has acquired call centers as well as an ordering cargo transportation business of Vezet Group of Companies. The deal amounted to $178 million. Part of these funds will be paid based on the results of the integration, which is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2021.
The company hopes that thanks to the agreement, it will be possible to improve customer service and accelerate the development of the logistics platform, namely, to offer express delivery of parcels and goods to residents of the regions. Only part of the assets of Vezet are acquired by the company. The deal will be valid in a limited number of regions of the country and will not apply to software.
In July 2019, Yandex.Taxi announced plans to purchase the call center of the Vezet Group of Companies, after which it submitted a corresponding petition to the FAS several times, and then withdrew it. As a result, in June 2020, the regulator refused Yandex.Taxi to purchase the assets of the taxi service, justifying this by the fact that in the event of a transaction, the aggregate share of Yandex. Taxi and Vezet group will increase and will reach 70%.
