Russian companies are actively implementing DLP systems preventing data leaks caused by an employee mistake. According to InfoWatch, since the beginning of the year, the demand for such AI-powered systems for predictive data analysis has grown by about 25% in comparison to the same period last year.

 
 An increase in demand for DLP systems was also noted by experts in Zecurion’s analytical center. According to the information provided by the experts of the center, demand for such solutions in 2022 is about 30% higher in comparison to the same period in 2021. In turn, the experts of RTK-Solar’s Dozor product center say that such systems are in demand among foreign consulting firms, food manufacturers, and the Russian industrial sector. The center’s experts also said that in the five months of 2022, revenue in the DLP area has been 7% higher than the sales volume planned for this period.

InfoWatch: Demand for Systems Preventing Data Leaks Increased in Russia

According to InfoWatch, the number of personal data leaks in the world decreased by 28.1% over the year. In Russia this figure decreased by 40%.

 
 Over the past year, analysts recorded 1729 cases of confidential information leakage from business companies, government organizations and authorities throughout the world. In 2020, 2406 cases were recorded. In 2021, 8.42 billion records of personal and payment data were disclosed, which is 28.8% less than in 2020, when the number of leaked records amounted to more than 11.8 billion.

 
 According to the company’s estimates, the United States of America ranks first in the world in terms of the number of leaks (42% of incidents). Russia ranks second (16.8% of incidents), the UK ranks third (4.9% of incidents).

 
 On April 5, it was announced that an initiative to introduce turnover-based fines for businesses for personal data leaks would be submitted to the State Duma by the Ministry of Digital Development and Roskomnadzor.

InfoWatch: Number of Personal Data Leaks in Russia Decreases by 40% Over the Year

The Ministry of Digital Development does not expect problems with the employment of IT specialists who worked in the foreign companies leaving the Russian market. The department’s experts believe that the demand for such employees among Russian companies is quite high.

 
 According to Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maxim Parshin, the ministry will support the demand for Russian IT solutions and provide support for Russia’s leading developers.

 
 The president of InfoWatch Natalya Kasperskaya believes that a decrease in the shortage of IT personnel should be expected in Russia. According to her, “the shortage was caused by the fact that over the past three years we have had a very powerful digitalization […] jobs for highly-demanded specialists will be found […] therefore, I believe that it is wrong to expect an increase in the deficit of specialists”.

 
 Earlier, Vladimir Putin signed a <a href="http://publication.pravo.gov.ru/Document/View/0001202203020001" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">decree</a> on the new support measures for Russian IT companies.

Ministry of Digital Development to Support IT Developers Against the Backdrop of Foreign Companies’ Exit from Russia

Russia is developing a strategy for the development of open source software through 2024. Among the authors of the <a href="https://www.tadviser.ru/images/6/63/%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B5%D0%BA%D1%82_%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%B3%D0%B8%D0%B8%2C_15_%D1%81%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%82%D1%8F%D0%B1%D1%80%D1%8F.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);">draft document</a> are experts from such companies as Postgres Professional, InfoWatch and Basalt SPO. 

 
 The key provisions of the strategy include attracting foreign programmers by creating conditions for obtaining Russian citizenship and preferential mortgages. It is also proposed to make mandatory the publication in the Russian repository (public repository for programmers, an analogue of Github from Microsoft) of the code under free licenses.

 
 Financial measures to support the strategy include the creation of non-state funds financing the development of open-source software as well as the introduction of tax incentives for non-IT companies financing the development of open source software.
