Equipment manufacturer Ericsson is thinking about localizing the production of 5G base stations in Russia. The company is considering the possibility of launching its own plant in the Russian Federation and is also conducting a technological audit of the GS Group site in Kaliningrad.
Ericsson has neither confirmed nor denied this information. They clarified that the company "is in constant dialogue with the authorities of many countries, including Russia, to realize the potential of 5G and other technologies."
Earlier Nokia announced its plans to localize production in Russia. At the end of November, the company signed a preliminary agreement of intent on the localization of LTE base stations with the Ministry of Digital Industry.
In turn, Huawei cannot decide on a localization partner among the players on the Russian market. The situation is similar for ZTE. Now the manufacturer collects information on the potential market size of localized 5G base stations in the horizon of 5-10 years.
