Kismet Capital Group, a Moscow-based private equity company, has sent an offer to Veon Ltd. to buy its cell towers in Russia, where Beeline’s, a Veon’s subsidiary and Russia’s second-largest telecom operator, equipment is currently located. The terms of the offer were not disclosed yet.
According to analysts from AC&M Consulting, at the beginning of 2021, the National Tower Company, which owns the Veon’s antenna mast structures, had about 15 thousand towers. Earlier, in the course of Veon’s negotiations with another potential buyer, the deal value was estimated at $810-945 million.

Kismet is run by Ivan Tavrin, former CEO of Megafon, Russia’s third-largest telecom operator. In February 2021, Tavrin raised $450 million for two SPACs targeting acquisitions in the European tech industry, Kismet Acquisition One and Kismet Acquisition Two.
