MTS investments in the renovation of networks in Moscow in 2021 amounted to RUB 16 billion. This is double the number in 2020. Replacing the networks in the Moscow Region will cost the company 14 billion rubles.

According to Inessa Galaktionova, Vice President for Telecommunications Business of MTS, the company has exceeded its plan to replace equipment in Moscow with Huawei base stations.

It is also noted that the traffic in the Moscow metro has grown by 70%. On December 1, it reached 100 TB. At the same time, the consumption of video content alone has quadrupled over the year. Now the volume of traffic is comparable to the indicators in Kaliningrad or Yakutsk.

According to Galaktionova, MTS may enter into a joint venture with other participants in the telecom market for the development of 5G, but at the moment the company "does not converge with other operators in the conditions."

In February 2021, it was reported that the total capital expenditures of MTS in the Moscow region this year will reach 16 billion rubles, and the number of base stations planned for installation will be 6.5 thousand.
