Russian developers have prepared a new set of preliminary standards for 5G OpenRAN networks. They are compatible with the requirements and recommendations of the international 3GPP consortium.
The documents address the issues of the interaction of all components of the 5G base station, and the interaction between 5G and LTE base stations. A plan for implementing 5G connectivity to the transport network was also presented.
“The Cyber-Physical Systems technical committee presents a new set of preliminary national standards for 5G OpenRAN networks for public consideration. The approval of the preliminary standards will ensure and accelerate the introduction of 5G communication technology in Russia, which is especially important in the face of sanctions pressure. The documents were prepared by the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech),” NTI statement says.
