Rostec presented the first 5G base station created in Russia during CIPR 2020 conference.

The base station model is assembled from three parts: a radio transmitting module, a digital processing module and mobile network cores. It operates in stand-alone mode and was developed with NPK Kryptonit.

The development of a prototype of a Russian base station suggests that Russia has a chance to enter the world market of communication equipment for 5G and take its place on it. However, the development of commercial equipment and the construction of a full-fledged 5G network in Russia will require years of work, tens of billions of rubles and close cooperation of all manufacturers.

Other 5G network capabilities including mobile internet, mobile virtual reality, augmented reality and 4K video streaming were also showcased on the stand.
