Sberbank plans to start issuing its own digital financial asset - Sbercoin. This will become possible after the registration of the blockchain platform, which is currently undergoing final approvals with the regulator, is completed. This information was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank Anatoliy Popov.
Anatoliy Popov said: “When the registration is completed, we will place the Sbercoin issue prospectus”. Popov also said that the Sberbank blockchain platform would be available not only to the bank, but also to other companies that want to issue their own digital assets.
At the beginning of this year, Sberbank filed an application with the Central Bank to register its own blockchain platform for issuing digital currency.
The law “On digital financial assets”, which was adopted by the State Duma in July 2020 and came into force in January 2021, allows companies to issue their own digital assets and exchange them for other digital assets.
