The International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) have approved the international standard for the Industrial Internet of Things proposed by the Russian Federation.

The preparation of the document was carried out upon the initiative of Rostelecom on the basis of the technical committee for standardization 194 "Cyber-Physical Systems" of Rosstandart.

The adopted standard establishes uniform requirements for the compatibility of various devices and systems of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The document will become the basis for the implementation of the concept of smart production and provide opportunities for the promotion of Russian technologies.

Previously, manufacturers in the IoT market used their own standards and protocols, and, as a result, products were often incompatible with each other. The adoption of the standard solves this problem.

The development of an international standard started in 2018 with the participation of experts from the USA, China, South Korea, Japan, and other countries.
