Voice Traffic in Moscow Metro Grows by 21% over the Year

The voice traffic in Moscow metro grew by 21% from November 2020 to November 2021, while the average call duration increased by a quarter.

The overwhelming majority of calls were made within the Russian service area. In addition to Moscow, the calls in the metro most often were made in Krasnodar region, St. Petersburg and Dagestan, with 7% of them to CIS countries and 3% of calls to non-CIS countries.

The average duration of calls from the metro within the Russian Federation was one and a half minutes and 35 seconds to foreign countries. Most often, metro passengers call abroad from the center of Moscow, at the Teatralnaya, Biblioeka Lenina and Tretyakovskaya stations.

The data was obtained on the basis of an analysis of aggregated anonymized data on calls made by MTS subscribers in the Moscow metro.
