In this report, Positive Technologies takes a look back at 2019 and gives its forecasts for what to expect in 2020.

The most noteworthy cybersecurity events of 2019 included APT attacks, hardware vulnerabilities, and high-profile data breaches. Corporate management came to realize the need for truly effective security, even as criminals entrenched themselves in cyberspace. One locus of lawlessness is on the darkweb, where forbidden goods and services—including hacking tools and access to hacked corporate infrastructures—are offered to all comers. Meanwhile, criminals continue to take advantage of the public's lack of security awareness. Positive Technologies takes a look back at last year and gives its forecasts for what to expect in 2020. Based on analysis by the Positive Technologies Expert Security Center (PT ESC), APT groups in 2019 used an average of four malware strains and five tactics for obtaining persistence.
