In the beginning of 2018 JetBrains surveyed 6,000 developers to identify the State of Developer Ecosystem.

Key findings:

Java is the most popular primary programming language, while JavaScript is the most used overall programming language. Go is considered to be the most promising programming language.
38% of all developers don't plan to adopt any new programming languages.
30% of developers started learning Python, 29% Javascript and 21% Java.
