6G: Global Standards vs. Fragmented Ecosystems

According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the creation of a 5G network in the capital will begin in 2022.

 
 “The comfort on the streets of Moscow is not limited to the physical environment. In parallel, we have deployed an extensive free Wi-Fi network and starting next year, the city will begin to build a 5G network together with cellular operators, which opens up fundamentally new opportunities for the provision of digital services," the Mayor said at the "Russia Forum: Driving the Future" as part of Expo-2020 in Dubai.

 
 At the end of May, the mayor of the capital <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/news/sergei-sobyanin-5g-will-be-tested-in-the-moscow-metro/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">announced</a> the start of testing the fifth-generation communication technology in the Moscow metro. The details of the project were not disclosed at that time.

 
 In July, the State Commission for Radio Frequencies <a href="https://digital.gov.ru/ru/documents/7973/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">rejected</a> the application of the Rostelecom for obtaining frequencies of 3.4-3.8 GHz for testing 5G in the metro. However, in October, Forbes <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/news/moscow-telecoms-may-get-4-3-8-ghz-frequencies-for-5g-used-by-the-military/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">reported</a> that the government was discussing the issue of transferring the 3.4-3.8 GHz range for the deployment of 5G networks by cellular operators in Moscow.

Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin: 5G to be Launched in the City in 2022

The University Technology Entrepreneurship Platform federal project, designed to stimulate students to set up their own businesses and attract investors, will be launched in 2022. Telesputnik writes that this was announced by Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

 
 The project will be one of the strategic initiatives of the Government. Around $270 million (20 billion rubles) will be allocated for the implementation of the project until 2024. The project will create 150,000 new jobs by 2030.

 
 Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Economic Development <a href="https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/5088607" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">had developed</a> a plan to support technology startups at all stages of development.

 
 In August Chernyshenko also <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/news/russia-to-create-a-unified-digital-platform-for-science/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">announced </a>that a unified digital platform for science would be launched in the Russian Federation. Within the framework of the platform, an ecosystem of services for joint research will be formed by 2030.

Russia to Launch a Project for Supporting Startups in Universities in 2022

The winners of the third season of the Digital Breakthrough 2021 competition have been announced. The teams shared a prize fund worth $325,000 (24 million rubles), as well as partner grants worth more than $27,000 (2 million rubles).

 
 Digital Coyote team became the best Moscow developer of the case for Rosatom. The team created the EcoTag oil spill detection and analysis system.

 
 In the Rosseti case, Foxhound team, which developed an online simulator for the unmanned aerial vehicle operator, became the best developer.

 
 Moscow developers were also included in the following teams:

 <li>Mamikhlapinatana, which created a solution for raw material quality analysis for on-site acceptance tests for Accenture company.</li>

 In total, during the hackathon 232 solutions for 12 case problems were developed.

Russian Digital Breakthrough 2021 Contest Winners Announced

Education holding Ultimate Education has acquired a controlling stake in Bang Bang Education online school. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

 
 Through the partnership, Bang Bang Education plans to improve business processes, strengthen development direction, and increase turnover and accelerate the scaling process.

 
 As a result of the deal, the online school will become part of the Ultimate Education holding, which has a total audience of more than 70 thousand students. At the moment, the total audience of Bang Bang Education exceeds 50 thousand people.
