At the beginning of April, Kaspersky Lab announced that it had received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a blockchain technology for management, lawful sending and processing of personal data. The company’s spokesperson assures that so far there are no restrictions for obtaining patents in this country.

 Kaspersky Lab’s patent is called “Systems and methods for sending user data from a trusted party to a third party using a distributed registry”. The company’s experts say that the patented technology guarantees authentication reliability of parties involved in the data transfer process. Control over data is achieved by forming a distributed registry, in which each stage of the interaction of the parties during the sending of user data is recorded. Developers explain that the distributed registry contains records pertaining to the facts of the transmission of personal data and the consent of the parties to this process.

SearchInform’s survey of more than 900 Russian companies showed that their security software is ill-suited for dealing with current threats. In particular, 95% of the companies use only simple antivirus software.

 
 Cryptographic software encryption is used by 47% of the surveyed companies, data leakage prevention systems are used by 36%, and 19% of companies use intrusion detection systems.

 
 70% of companies in the commercial sector say that real business needs are the main reason for implementing cybersecurity software and contributing to its development. Another 32% mentioned regulatory requirements as one of the key reasons. 71% of the surveyed companies in the public sector allocate funds for cybersecurity to comply with the law. 31.5% of companies say they have a real need for data protection.

 
 The experts of SearchInform said that “62% of companies allocate funds only for the renewal of license keys and technical support, but now new purchases and scaling of already implemented software are truly needed”. According to analysts, it will take time for companies to replace foreign products and solutions after the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian market.

SearchInform: Most Russian Companies Use Simple Antivirus Software for Cyber Security

The State Commission on Radio Frequencies (GRFC) has adopted the 5G <a href="https://digital.gov.ru/uploaded/files/plan-rabotyi-gkrch-na-2022-god.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">work plan</a> for 2022 at the last meeting. Ministry of Digital Development Prepares a List of Russian Products for Replacing Foreign Software and Services

Spektr (a subsidiary of Rostec, which will <a href="https://rostec.ru/media/pressrelease/rostekh-predstavil-mikhailu-mishustinu-otechestvennuyu-bazovuyu-stantsiyu-5g/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">become</a> the basis for creating a national vendor of 4G and 5G telecom solutions) attracted the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI, a subordinate to the Ministry of Digital Development) to cooperate and conduct research work in the field of 5G and future generations of communications.

Ministry of Digital Development to Launch Russian Software Marketplace in April

T-Kom (an enterprise of the TVEL fuel company of Rosatom) started assembling telecom equipment at the Moscow Polymetal Plant. The company launched a workshop for SKD assembly of products, where they are labeled, packaged, and the software is installed and tested.

 
 According to the company’s information, the planned capacity is 1200 pieces of equipment per month. Currently, the production of more than 70 models of managed switches has been set up. T-Kom also produces equipment with Russian software, which will be included in the register of Russian software.

T-Kom Launches Production of Telecom Equipment in Moscow

Swedish telecom company Tele2 AB will not renew the license for the use of Tele2 brand in Russia, which expires in March 2023. According to the report prepared by TMT Consulting, in 2021 the number of access points installed by telecom operators (networks of private companies and city free access points) increased by 3.7% to 185.7 thousand, and the revenue of operators increased by 2.8 % and reached $64.5 million (5.3 billion rubles).

According to Kaspersky Lab, in March 2022, the number of DDoS attacks was 1.5 times more than in February and 8 times more than during the same period in 2021. The duration of attacks also increased in the last two months. In February-March last year an average attack did not last longer than 12 minutes, but this year the average duration of attacks was 29.5 hours.

 
 Financial sector institutions were most frequently attacked: the percentage of attacks on such organizations in the total amount of attacks doubled over the year and reached 35%. NashStore App Store for Android to be Launched in Russia

The Russoft Association corrected the data on the number of IT specialists who left Russia in February–March 2022. According to Russoft, 18–20 thousand specialists have already <a href="https://iz.ru/1310115/valerii-kodachigov/tam-ne-kodi-v-rossiiu-mozhet-vernutsia-50-uekhavshikh-aitishnikov" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">left</a> the country. According to last week’s <a href="https://d-russia.ru/russoft-ocenil-chislo-uehavshih-it-specialistov-v-razy-nizhe-chem-schitalos-ranee.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">estimates</a>, 7–8 thousand people have left Russia. Experts of the association noted that the data on freelancers was taken into account in the updated estimates.

 Our estimates are based on the information on the departure of employees of Russoft’s member companies. We also referred to a survey conducted by Proglib, which is based on data from 700 programmers and also includes data on freelancers who were not included in the survey of Russoft’s member companies. The survey mentioned the figure of 6% of all people in the software development industry, which is 200 thousand people, according to Russoft.&nbsp;

 According to the president of the association Valentin Makarov, from a third to a half of IT specialists will <a href="https://iz.ru/1310115/valerii-kodachigov/tam-ne-kodi-v-rossiiu-mozhet-vernutsia-50-uekhavshikh-aitishnikov" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">return</a> to Russia within 8–10 months. He says that most of the specialists who go abroad are employees of development centers of foreign companies which decided to close their offices in Russia, specialists of the companies that were export-oriented, and freelancers.
