 The USA and China are the leading countries in the number of developments in these areas and the number of patent applications. The largest number of patent families are owned by Alibaba Group Holding LTD (China), Alibaba Group Service LTD (Hong Kong), Alipay Lab Singapore PTE LTD (Singapore), SAP SE (Germany).

 
 The blockchain patent landscape was developed by the Skolkovo Intellectual Property Center. Based on the analysis results, 357 patent families were identified in the financial and logistics areas for the period 2006-2020.

 The rating was compiled based on the B2C E-commerce Index. It included four indicators that are directly related to online shopping:&nbsp;

Over the past two to three months, Russians have most often used the WhatsApp messenger. This is evidenced by the survey data of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM).

 
 According to the study, 73% of respondents used this messenger during the specified period. The second most popular messenger was VKontakte, which was in demand among 38% of Russians. Another 26% of respondents answered that they prefer to use the Viber messenger, the remaining 18% - Telegram. Moreover, the latter is more popular among men than among women (22% and 15%, respectively), as well as among young people aged 18 to 24 years.

 
 For video calls, Russians most often choose WhatsApp (70%), Viber (20%) and Skype (13%). The least popular are video calls on Facebook, Microsoft Teams (1% each, respectively). In addition, the study authors asked the respondents what methods of communication they prefer. 69% of working Russians communicate with colleagues by mobile phone, in person - 66%. Research: most Russian companies increased expenditures for CRM systems after self-isolation

In 2019, the
Russian video games and e-sports market amounted to $2.1 billion, which is 13%
more than in the previous year. By the end of 2024, the market value will reach
$2.8 billion with an average annual growth rate of 5.6%, PwC experts forecast
in their review of the global and Russian entertainment industry.<a></a><a></a>

 
 According to
analysts, the Russian video games and e-sports market is 11th in the world and
5th in Europe in terms of size. The number of active players is, according to
various estimates, from 30 million to 50 million people.<a></a><a></a>

 
 Experts also
note that the COVID-19 pandemic had a positive impact on revenue growth in the
country’s video game industry. According to AliExpress, there was a 2.3-fold
increase in the sales of digital copies of games in April, compared to the same
period last year. According to Yandex.Money, in April the turnover of payments
for purchases of content within games was 23% higher than in March, and the
purchases of the games grew by 22%. PwC analysts predict that in the second
half of the year audience behavior will stabilize and the dynamics will return

Research: The market of video games and e-sports in Russia will grow at 5.6% rate per year

The Skolkovo Foundation and VR_Bank have evaluated the digitalization level of the top 50 Russian banks in the first half of 2020. Tinkoff Bank became the leader and moved up one place compared to 2019. It is followed by VTB, which moved up from the second ten to the second place; the leader of the previous rating, Raiffeisenbank, dropped 3 positions down, Alfa-Bank dropped 1 position down and is the last one in the top 5 banks most prepared for digitalization.

Research: Tinkoff, VTB and Sberbank are at the top of the ranking of banks digitalization

According to Kearney, Russians’ spending on communications and online services may grow by 31%. In absolute terms, this will be equivalent to an increase of around €7 per subscriber a month.

 
 According to a survey of 16 thousand people in 28 countries of the world, conducted by Kearney&nbsp; in the Q4 2019 and the Q1 2020, Russian subscribers spent about €21 per month on these services (two-thirds on communications). Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe, consumers spend on the same almost twice as much - €40 per month, and in Western Europe - €94.

 
 Kearney has developed an index of consumer connectivity, where Russia only ranked 17th, which indicates potential for growth. The index takes into account the local price levels, consumer income and costs of digital services, including fixed and mobile communications, pay TV, media content and digital entertainment, as well as the costs of connected devices (voice assistants, smart home, video surveillance, etc.).

 
 Analysts believe that the most promising areas for revenue growth in Russia are entertainment services, the cost of which in Russia can potentially grow by 48% - from the current €6 to €8.9.

the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.globalinnovationindex.org/Home">Global Innovation Index</a> of the world’s 100 leading innovation clusters in
2020, rising one position compared with the previous year.<a></a>

 
 The ranking of innovative
clusters has been published annually since 2017, during this period Moscow has
improved by 25 positions, says Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor for Economic
Policy and Property and Land Relations.<a></a>

 The innovative clusters in the ranking include both individual cities and urban agglomerations. Tokyo - Yokohama, Shenzhen - Hong Kong - Guangzhou, Seoul, Beijing and San Jose - San Francisco entered the top 5 of the ranking of innovation clusters this year. In the ranking Moscow is close to such cities as Singapore, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and is ahead of Stockholm, Melbourne, Toronto, Zurich.

ICT.Moscow <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/research/overview-of-global-5g-use-cases-in-2021/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">published</a> an annual overview of monitoring the use of fifth generation communications in the world. 146 use cases from 30 countries were analyzed for the period from August 2020 to October 2021 inclusive.

 
 The overview includes both projects presented in the demo mode and practices, the testing of which has already begun within the pilots. All of them are divided into 9 functional areas: industry and energy, logistics and transport, entertainment and tourism, communications and connectivity, security, medicine, ecology and agriculture, commerce, education. The overview also analyzes technologies and field where 5G is implemented more often, including AI, VR/AR, robotics, edge computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X). The collected cases were announced in open sources from August 2020 to October 2021 inclusive.

 
 Key findings

 
 The geography of 5G application in the world is noticeably expanding — the largest number of use cases was found in China (22), followed by the UK (17th) and the US (16th), which have become more visible on the global landscape largely due to the activity of local operators. In countries where 5G networks had not been put into commercial operation at the time of the publication of the report (Russia, Belarus, Portugal, Argentina, Turkey, Ukraine, Malaysia), 5G-ready use cases were taken into account, that is, projects implemented in networks ready to work on 5G frequencies after their launch.

 
 The internal geography of 5G use cases is expanding — they are being actively implemented not only in capitals and megacities, but also in provincial regions and small towns.

 
 The key functional areas in which 5G use cases are being most actively implemented include industry and energy, logistics and transport, entertainment, security, communications and connectivity, medicine. The largest number of use cases have been found in manufacturing industry, where such scenarios are being developed as implementation at industrial facilities (at the level of infrastructure hubs), and equipment management. In the transport segment, among other things, technically complex cases were implemented: for example, providing communications for high-speed transport routes. In most areas, another trend is noticeable, with many new use cases having become more narrow-profile, that is, within the framework of one case, a narrower range of tasks is solved and a smaller range of technologies is used in addition to 5G.

 AI and VR/AR are being used more actively than other technologies along with 5G. For AI solutions, 5G enables the continuous transmission of large amounts of data. This is especially true for manufacturing industry and transport (more than half of AI use cases are concentrated in these areas). Cases using VR/AR are distributed approximately evenly across all functional areas, including industry and transport, as well as the segments of entertainment and tourism, medicine, ecology and agriculture. For example, these technologies are used in 5G networks for staff training, seminars and remote meetings, as well as testing virtual games in the cloud.

 Cities and states play a prominent role in the implementation of 5G use cases — 98 of the 146 cases reviewed involve city or state departments in one way or another, as well as companies with significant state participation (for example, Chinese telecom operators).

 
 Enterprises are actively using private 5G networks, with more than a quarter of the selected 5G use cases being implemented in private 5G networks. Usually, they are deployed by industrial enterprises — most projects in this direction were carried out precisely in private networks. However, such cases can also be found in the segments of transport, medicine, security, and agriculture.

 In November 2021, analysts from the Innovation Laboratory of the IT Department of the Moscow Government have studied global practices in the use of video surveillance and video analytics systems. Among other things, they analyzed the various areas where such systems are used today and identified seven main application scenarios, that is, six more in addition to security (for which such systems have traditionally been deployed in cities). The fact that video analytics systems are increasingly being used in the world to solve various problems is also indicated by other studies. According to IT company Surfshark, in 2020, more than half of all existing states (109 countries) have already used or approved facial recognition. In total, 194 states were studied by analysts.

Analysts from the Innovation Laboratory of the IT Department of the Moscow Government <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/research/video-surveillance-and-video-analytics-an-overview-of-international-practices/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">have studied</a> the new practices of using video surveillance and video analytics systems in cities and countries in Asia, the Middle East, the USA, and Europe.

 
 They identified seven main areas where such systems are now used globally: security, education, transport, housing and communal services, healthcare, emergency services, and tourism. Separately, the experts considered new scenarios for using video analytics with drones. More than 30 practices in total, including:

 In 2021, Moscow has received several awards in the field of technology and digitalization. So, at the end of 2021, the capital received the Runet Prize. Among the laureates are the digital ecosystem of Moscow and the Russpass travel service.

 
 In November, Moscow took first place in the ESG Governance category of the European Cities of the Future: ESG Innovation Index.
